My Favourite Plant Shops

I’m asked quite often where I get my plants. I thought I would post some of my favourite go to places. Since I live in Oakville most are in Toronto and the surrounding areas.

Vermeer’s Garden Centre vermeers.ca

684 South Pelham Road, Welland, ON, L3C 3C8

One of my favourite garden centres even though it’s about an hour drive from where I live. Unfortunately I’ve never actually stepped into the garden centre itself! I only discovered it after the pandemic and have been only able to do curbside pick up. I’m really looking forward to getting to explore this spring!

I’ve bought numerous plants from this garden centre and have always been really happy with the health and quality of the plants. They are always really well priced especially for the condition they are in. They also get in a few uncommon plants — I was able to find my Hoya carnosa ‘Chelsea’ here that I’ve had on my wish list for a long time!

JOMO Studio jomostudio.com

21A Bathurst St, Toronto, ON, M5V 0P2

I love JOMO Studio’s website design and experience. They make browsing for plants really easy and enjoyable. I find myself checking their Instagram and website often for any new plants added. When less common plants are added they can be sold out within minutes, ie. the Philodendron ‘Micans’. There are some real gems that pop up once in a while, just make sure to keep an eye out!

Roehampton Orchids roehamptonorchids.ca

Canada Wide Shipping / Pick up location 30 Roehampton Ave., Toronto, M4P 0B9

My go to shop for anything orchid related. I’ve ordered many Jewel orchids from Roehampton Orchids and they are always beautiful and super healthy. Most are living in my nano fish tank terrarium. The owners are also very friendly, helpful and open to answering any questions about orchids and their care. They also carry a few rare plants from time to time! If you are every looking for anything orchid related I can’t recommend this shop more.

Read more about the shop and it’s owners on this blog.to post.

Secret Garden Boutique secretgardenboutique.shop

84 Norfolk Street, Guelph, ON, N1H4J2

A cute plant shop located in Guelph that focuses on rare plants. Some current plants in stock include Variegated Philodendron ‘Burle Marx’, Anthurium ‘Warocqueanum’ Dark, Philodendron ‘White Wizard’ and a bunch of uncommon Hoyas! With the friendly staff and impressive plant collection this plant shop is a joy to explore - it always feels like a treasure hunt! I wish I could buy ALL the plants they carry.

Anga’s Farm and Nursery angasfarm.ca

89 Bankfield Drive, Etobicoke, ON M9V 2R2

Located just east of the city of Toronto you’ll find this awesome Nursery. Their plants are always very well priced and available in a variety of sizes. They also have a great selection of Calatheas, which for anyone who follows me on Instagram knows I’m a sucker for! They do plant drops every Friday — I always keep an eye out for uncommon plants, if there’s one you want you better move fast before it’s gone.

Terra Greenhouses terragreenhouses.com

Multiple locations - I go to 12800 Britannia Rd, Hornby, ON L0P 1E0

This is my go to garden centre for everyday gardening goods. I haven’t bought as many houseplants from Terra, but many of my outdoor garden plants are from here. They carry a large selection of annuals and perennials during the growing season.

Connon Nurseries connon.ca

656 Robson Rd., Waterdown, ON, L8B 1H1

By far the largest garden centre I’ve been to so far. The first time I visited Connon Nurseries my eyes couldn’t even preceieved how far the plants went — it looked like forever. I love visiting this nursery any chance I get. The only reason it’s not as often is because it’s a bit of a drive for me to get to. They also have an amazing selection of trees.

I could easier spend an entire day here — I would even pay an entrance fee (just kidding!), but seriously it’s a pretty great day out :).
