Field Trip: Eden Project
Being stuck in lock down has got me thinking about the places I really want to go to again. Eden Project is on top of that list. I dug up some old photos to remember what it was like to be there. I’m hoping sharing them will give some enjoyment to others who have been longing for gardens and plants.
The Eden Project is located in Cornwall, England, UK.
You’ll find thousands of plant species all around you as soon as you enter the gardens. There are two massive biodomes that house the Rainforest and Mediterranean biomes. The Rainforest biome is the largest indoor Rainforest in the world! The structures are beautifully constructed with hundreds of hexagons and pentagons. The geometric is stunning to look at.
The Core is an education facility that houses classrooms to communicate and spread Eden Projects message about the relationship between people and plants.
Some photos from the vast outdoor botanical gardens. There were so many beautiful areas and plants to explore and see.
We were surrounded by landscapes and plants of Mediterranean, South Africa, California and Western Australia when we entered the Mediterranean biome. The Temperature is kept between 9-25°C.
After the Mediterranean biome we thought it was a good time to take a break and find lunch. There was a really nice canteen style restaurant where we relaxed, fuelled up and planned what we wanted to see next.
We headed to the Rainforest Biome next. The biome consists of four Rainforst environments: Tropical Islands, Southeast Asia, West Africa and Tropical South America. It was amazing seeing plants we usually keep indoors as houseplants growing to their full potential.
Temperature ranges 18–35°C
High up in the biome there was also a lookout point that was accessible stairs.
A few pictures from of the plants in the Rainforst Biome.
On the way out we took one more stole around the outdoor botanical gardens.
We decided to take a drive to Land’s End since we were already so close and have always wanted to check it out. It was stunning and I’m longing to go back now (to both Eden Project and Land’s End). Below is one of the shots we go while looking out towards the water.
